I was looking for something that would be smaller than a camera bag and this case seemed to fit the bill. I've only had it for a day or so, but find it to be perfect for my needs. It offers great protection for my D80 and the 18-135mm lens that came with the camera. I think most people will find it to be just what they were looking for.

TopI'm looking for a case for my D80.
Is this case quick release / "ever ready" - the Nikon site is painfully vague.
i.e. Does the case attach to the camera via a tripod screw or something, and can you use the camera while it is fixed in the case? Or do you have to take the whole camera out of the case to use it?
To answer your question, no the case is not quick release or ever-ready, nor does it allow you to attach a tripod to the case itself. I find it merely to be a protector of the camera while it is in the case itself. Hope this helps in your decesion.

Weakness: There is no velcro or zipper
It is a nice small case custom made for Nikon D80 DSLR. The camera fits perfectly, and the case doesn't add any additional volume. I was looking for that exact case because I hate carrying the huge camera bag for a short trip. It will not replace the big bag with compartments for all you equipment (lenses, etc.), but it's just a nice addition which is really convenient.

CF-D80 SEMI-SOFT CASE f/D80
Strengths: Good quality material, will fit D80 body + 18mm-135mm lens nicely
Weakness: None so far
The compact case is very nice for the digital SLR since I did not want to get a bulky camera bag. This actually fit the D80 with the lens kit and the lens hood altogether. With the strap, it is essentially similar to a camera bag.
